The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has launched the Trustworthy and Responsible Artificial Intelligence Resource Center (AIRC), an online resource to help businesses use AI responsibly.

Use of AI is becoming more and more common in different industries and transforming the way businesses operate. However, along with its benefits, AI also poses significant risks and challenges, such as ethical concerns, cybersecurity threats, and biased algorithms, which can result in significant reputational damage, financial losses, or even legal liabilities. In response, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has launched the Trustworthy and Responsible Artificial Intelligence Resource Center (AIRC) to assist companies in using AI responsibly.

The AIRC is an online resource that provides a one-stop-shop for NIST content, including the NIST AI Playbook, and other resources to support AI actors in the development and deployment of trustworthy and responsible AI technologies. The AIRC is designed to support the NIST AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF 1.0) and accompanying Playbook and will continue to grow with enhancements to enable an interactive, role-based experience providing access to a wide range of relevant AI resources.

AI risk management requires a holistic and multidisciplinary approach that considers the technical, legal, reputational, social, and ethical aspects of AI systems, solutions, and use cases. It also requires a participatory and inclusive approach involving the relevant stakeholders in designing, developing, and using AI systems. The AIRC and the RMF provide helpful guidance for businesses seeking to achieve these goals. The stakeholders represented include those who create, deploy, use, or are affected by AI systems.

By engaging with stakeholders, AI risk managers can better understand the needs, values, expectations, and concerns of different groups and individuals and incorporate them into the decision-making process. The AIRC is a valuable resource for anyone who wants to create and use AI systems in a trustworthy and responsible manner.
