The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has released cybersecurity resources to help the healthcare industry mitigate cyber threats and secure critical infrastructure.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) 405(d) Program has announced the release of valuable resources to help address cybersecurity concerns in the Healthcare and Public Health (HPH) Sector. With the increasing number of cyber attacks targeting the healthcare industry, these resources are timely and critical.

One of the significant resources is the Knowledge on Demand platform, a free online educational platform that offers cybersecurity trainings to health and public health organizations. The platform aims to improve cybersecurity awareness and equip organizations with the necessary skills to detect and mitigate cyber threats. The platform is a fantastic resource for organizations looking to strengthen their cybersecurity posture.

Another crucial resource is the Health Industry Cybersecurity Practices (HICP) 2023 Edition. It’s a foundational publication that aims to raise awareness of cybersecurity risks, provide best practices, and help the HPH Sector set standards in mitigating the most pertinent cybersecurity threats to the sector. The publication is an excellent reference for organizations seeking guidance on cybersecurity best practices.

Lastly, the Hospital Cyber Resiliency Initiative Landscape Analysis report is a review of domestic hospitals’ current state of cybersecurity preparedness. The report benchmarks participating hospitals against standard cybersecurity guidelines such as HICP 2023 and the National Institute of Standards and Technology Cybersecurity Framework (NIST CSF). This report is critical in identifying areas of improvement for hospitals and the healthcare industry at large.

These efforts are a key part of the Administration’s work to secure all of our Nation’s critical infrastructure from cyber threats. As the healthcare industry becomes more reliant on technology, the need for strong cybersecurity measures cannot be overstated. The HHS 405(d) Program’s release of these resources is a step in the right direction towards securing the healthcare industry from cyber attacks.
